There’s a task at hand. Your inner mind is the workshop. The tools needed for the job is priceless and never for sale at the local store, You have the map and detour rules stamped in your heart, because your talent is raw and in-built, accomplishing it is simply a piece of cake, why? Because it is your gifting, it is that wow factor that defines you! Not your juicy past or what people say or think about you, but God’s mark of un-common favor, uniqueness and exceptional beauty bestowed upon you. It is a glaring revelation! You have what it takes!
If you are thinking like me, I love good bargains. I love the feel and command of bargaining power either at the fabric aisle or beads aisle in NY. It’s an open market where everyone is allowed to boast and brag about their bargaining power. The best part of this bargain is that, you are allowed to walk away either way. With or without a smile, all depending on your bargaining power to control and command the cost of an item! Period!
So, for us folks in the pews “the reverse” is the case. What does it cost us to outdo each other? Have we ever taken a leap of faith to display our inner beauty? ‘Having the mindset of fulfilling God’s mission to empower and inspire those around us with our talent? ‘thinking like a servant rather than a leader? ‘Transparency in our “good deeds” without hidden agenda? Not looking at purchasing titles and cheap recognition because we crave it? ‘Diligently and humbly carrying those with burdensome insecurity through? Have you ever been in a situation where your God-given talent is considered a threat? Intimidation and competition setting in! ‘Do we bargain for competition instead of cooperation?
Competition is a way of life all over the world. It is has no place in the house of God. It is the fuel that keeps jealousy and hatred burning. It associates rivalry, contest and opposition. It connects striving for the same object against another person. Like-mindedness is union-based! —it is the attitude of cooperation we all need. Is that not the way a Christian should follow? ‘Not only is the act of competing wrong, but the actual attitude of competition and flexing of power is baffling. The attitude of competition is totally condemned by God.
‘Hoping someone will cultivate the attitude of humility and cooperation, to stop trying to win people over by putting others down with their sweet coated holier-than-thou attitude speech, thus proving superiority over them. Will it produce mediocrity? I doubt it! In actual fact, it leads to achieving excellence, and helping others to do so as well. But what do I know about attitude bargaining? I am just an ordinary expressionist moving forward in life!
May God Help Us All!

Yinka thanks for sharing this topic. Absolutely right about people killing your dreams in the house of God They come to you like they care but really are out ti destroy you. I think for everyone with a low esteem background or upbringing, please find a way to fix your inferiority complex than put down others who are willing to help others grow.

Command and control is of the world, like in sales department. Humility and togetherness should be embraced more with us folks in the pew. Good one Yinka.

We should never allow other people’s bad attitude affect our calling. We are aware of the politics that happens in church but not observant of the fact that it’s trait of the hands of the devil stirring manipulation, confusion and hierarchy. Our focus should be about that greatness in us that cannot be touched. May God deliver us from all the distractions in the his house.

I enjoyed reading the respond from Tim (below). A lot of people have been dealt with in the same way and are hurting with no one to care about it. When people have reservations about the mishap of a church, it’s time for them to move on id nothing is done about it.

Yinka, good one. I admire your beauty in writing about a lot of things that a lot of us sweep under the carpet. You are indeed gifted.
Secondly, reply to AYO from London. Your church must be a non-denomination one. With structures and principles. Not all Nigerian churches have structure with chain of command that functions. Just my giving.

This is it, my church in London has a balance and check department. Every time something like this happens, their work is to call it to order. This does not even have to involve the minister in charge. It is immediately discuss and everyone moves on

Talk about dream killers.
I once met this young gguy who was attending my church on an exchage program from Denver. Very very talented. He could play all the musical instrument that had been abandoned in the storage for years.
He claimed he’s been in shelter once and had this very special anointing to minister to teenagers about sex, drugs and living in the mmoment.
For coordinating quarterly events for church, he has an aura about him that just makes people feel connected and long to attend church activities more.
He’s certainly gifted. But his gifting was frustrated by the church members who couldn’t handle the fact that he got it going at such a young age.
During his exit interview, he asked for a pen and paper and wrote his feelings down.
Quoted: a flower arranged next to another flower has one mission. Not to compete with sprouting but to enjoy blooming together!
That was all he said and returned to his home church in Denver. Carrying with him all the pain and rejection of jealousy.
Sister Yinka, well said. I really admire your bravery in discussing this. I think your life has a new meaning with ease when we look at such attributes with open eyes.
Keep it up.

May God help us, Yinka. I have witnessed several people come into the house of God to kill other people’s talent with the own self appointed low esteem.
There work is to destroy and procrastinate. They never see the good in other people. Only God can uproot them in a system that yields to favorism. Its a shame.

You are so right Yinka, it’s such a shame to see how low people will stoop in the name of jealousy rather than help each other so we can all succeed together as sisters in christ. We all need to wake up and stay conscious because we are ALL guilty of this act, knowingly or unknowingly we all need to work on ourselves and start to lead by example…….may God continue to help us all to love one another unconditionally!
